The Teachers Association of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology on Wednesday held a sit-in programme on their campus demanding their pension after retirement under the pay scale of 2015.
The University Grant Commission recently announced that a total of 22 teachers of BUET, who had been in duty after 60 years of age, would get their pension according to the pay scale of 2012.
UGC also mentioned that that public university teachers who had been working after 60 years of age, they would not get any pension for the additional years of work which triggered the chaos.
At least 200 teachers participated at the programme that started at 12:00pm and continued till 1:30pm under academic council building of the campus.
Farida Nilufar, principal of the association, said they would continue their demonstration until the authorities grants their demand of pension according to the pay scale of 2015.
They would also skip all kinds of administrative works of the university, until their demands are met, she said.
