Former leaders of Chittagong University unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League, ruling Awami League-backed student organisation, on Monday gave a one-month ultimatum to the university authorities for holding the election of Chittagong University Central Students’ Union.
They formed a human chain in front of the ShahidMinar on the campus in the afternoon, demanding that university authorities should hold the CUCSU polls as soon as possible.
Chittagong University BCL former general secretary Fazle Rabbi Sujon, while addressing the human chain rally, said that there had been no platform to fulfill the needs and demands of the students of the university for the past 28 years as there was no student representative in the senate.
The university authorities should take immediate steps to hold the students’ union election to solve the problems, he said, adding that they would go for tougher action if the university authorities did not pay any heed to their demand.
CU BCL former finance secretary Zahed Awal, assistant secretary Azadur Rahman, and Tarequl Islam, addressed the rally, among others.
