A Dhaka court today accepted the charges brought against two teachers of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College in a case filed for instigating the suicide of Aritry Adhikary, a ninth-grader of the school.
The teachers are Nazneen Ferdous, acting principal, and Zinat Akhtar, morning shift in-charge of the school. Metropolitan Magistrate Sadbir Yasir Ahsan Chowdhury passed the order after scrutinising the case dockets and other relevant documents.
The court also relieved Aritry’s class teacher Hasna Hena of the charges as the investigating officer appealed to the court to discharge her.
Aritry was found hanging from the ceiling of her home in Shantinagar on December 3 last year, hours after she and her parents were allegedly insulted by some teachers of the school.
Inspector of Detective Branch of police Kazi Kamrul Islam, investigation officer of the case, submitted the charge sheet against Nazneen Ferdous and Zinat Akhtar to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court in Dhaka on March 28.
