Discussion on historic days to project country’s history: DU VC

DU Correspondent |

Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique yesterday underscored the need for arranging discussion on various historic days to project the country’s real history to the new generations.

“We are aware about our country’s liberation war histories. But we have to arrange discussions on different historic days, including independence, victory and historic Mujibnagar days, Bangabandhu’s birth and martyrdom days, to let the new generations know the real history of the country,” he said in his presidential speech at a discussion on the campus.

DU authority organized the discussion marking the Historic Mujibnagar Day at Teacher-Student Center (TSC) which was addressed by, among others, DU Pro-VC (administration) Professor Dr. Md Akhtaruzzaman, Pro-VC (academic) Professor Dr. Nasreen Ahmad and Treasure Professor Dr. Kamal Uddin.

Dhaka University VC Professor Arefin said “We have to take our country forward by acquiring greatest lessons from our glorious history,” and added that it is the great lesson of the history.

The VC said Mujibnagar Government steered the country’s liberation war, following the declaration of independence by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur, to achieve the final victory on December 16, 1971.

The great liberation war was orchestrated smoothly following the right way, he said, adding that although there were hatched various plots to foil the liberation war, but those conspiracies were foiled under the dynamic leadership of foresighted leaders of the Mujibnagar Government leading the war into victory.

Professor Arefin urged all pro-liberation forces to take the country forward facing all kinds of conspiracies like in 1971.
