Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid is suffering from Chikungunya. His Personal Assistant (APS), Jakir Hossain, told dainikshiksha.com that the Minister’s wife has also been infected.
The couple is currently resting at their residence while undergoing treatment. His assistant further said the couple were taken to Labaid on Thursday (Jun 8) after their fever escalated the night before. Doctors ran various tests on both and confirmed that they were infected with the Chikungunya virus. Mr. Nurul and his wife were advised to take rest for the next seven days.
