Ensuring education of urban slum children underscored

Comprehensive steps should be taken to ensure rights to education of children of backward communities living in

urban slums for attaining the sustainable development goals (SDGs) leaving no one behind.

Public representatives and government officials made the observation at an orientation course arranged for date enumerators on ‘Child Well-being Survey for Educational Development’ on Wednesday. 

Rangpur City Corporation (RpCC) organised the event at its hall room with assistance of the UNICEF to train the data enumerators for properly conducting survey to collect data of the children living in slum areas of the
city to ensure their education.

Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa attended the orientation course as the chief guest with Chief Executive Officer of RpCC Akhter Hossain Azad in the hair. Secretary of RpCC Abu Saleh Md Musa Jongi, City Councilors Harun Ar Rashid, Sekendar Ali, Rahamat Ullah Babla, Maled Neaz Arzoo, Hasna Khatun, among others, addressed.

Akhter Hossain Azad discussed the importance of preparing accurate data of the children belonging to the backward families living in slums areas of the city to bring them under comprehensive educational programmes.

The chief guest thanked the UNICEF authority for extending necessary cooperation and supports to the RpCC authority in preparing data of slum children living in the city to ensure their education and make them worthy
citizens.

He urged the participating data enumerators to properly utilise the knowledge and expertise they acquired from the orientation course in preparing a complete data of slum children after properly conducing their survey toward the direction.
