Students of Home Economics College on Tuesday blocked the New Market intersection demanding elevation of their college as a full-fledged institute under Dhaka University.
Several hundreds of students blocked one of the major intersection in the capital, that connects Azimpur and Dhaka University with Mirpur Road, from 11:30am triggering severe gridlock around the area.
The road blockade was underway until last reported at 1:30pm.

They would not withdraw the blockade until the government meets their demand, she said.
Meanwhile, Home Economics College principal Shamsunnahar said she would talk with the government authorities about the matter.
Dhaka University vice-chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique said if government approves student’s demand they have no problem with the matter.
