IU female student suspended for ‘derogatory’ remarks on BCL

Desk Report |

Islamic University (IU) authorities on Monday (6 August) suspended a female student from the university allegedly for making 'derogatory' remarks about Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on Facebook.

The suspended student is Mousumi Akter Mou, a final year student of Finance and Banking department of the university.

IU acting registrar SM Abdul Latif told UNB that IU vice-chancellor Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari issued the suspension order against Mou as she posted an “abusive comment” on Facebook about BCL, the student wing of ruling Bangladesh Awami League (AL).

A three-member probe body was also formed with IU Student Adviser professor Rezwanul Islam as its head to look into the matter, he said, adding that further action will be taken after getting the probe report.
