A female student of mass communication and journalism department of Jagannath University on Tuesday was allegedly harassed by fellow students on the university’s Uttaran bus.
In a written complaint to the university authorities, the victim Farjana Islam Zeba stated that she was harassed physically and mentally for refusing to carry a bag for another student on her way to the university from Mirpur.
Zeba to told, ‘As I refused to carry the bag, they hurled abuses at me. When I protested they slapped me, tore off my bag and broke my spectacles.’
On the other hand, some students filed a complaint with university authorities against Zeba for misbehaving with them and creating anarchy on the bus.
Denying the allegations, finance department student Jisun Biswas said that and some students had merely tried to control Zeba when she became aggressive on the bus.
University proctor Noor Muhammad told New Age that the authorities had received two contradicting complaints in this connection.
