No alternative to enhancing human-resource for digital economy: Palak

Zunaid Ahmed PalakState Minister for Information Communication and Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak on Saturday night in an orientation program said, there is no alternative to enhancing human-resource to establish Digital Economy and to uplift Information and Technology sector.

He was addressing as chief guest at the auditorium of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) on Top Up IT Training and ITES Foundation Skills Training, arranged by ‘Leverage ICT for Growth Governance (LICT) project’, funded by World Bank under Information and Technology sector.

Youths of about one lakh will be provided advanced training on Information and Technology by the next two years. In future these trained youths will play a vital role in advancement of IT sector and forming digital economy, he said.

LICT Program is building competent human resource of about 34 thousand youths through world standard training in Which 10 thousand graduate youths are being provided Top IT training in Science and Technology. At the same time 20 thousand youths who are on study are being provided Non IT foundation training by USA based institution ‘Earnest and Young’. Employment opportunity will be created in home and abroad for 60% of the youths after Top Up IT training, he further said.

The minister said, “Bangladesh is at third position in outsourcing. 55 thousand freelancers are being competently prepared through outsourcing training under ‘Learning and Earning’ program of Information and Technology sector. Special Lab has been established in ‘Bangladesh Computer Council under Information Technology sector in order to train at least 50 thousand youths each year.”

Palak has asked the youths as the competent craftsmen to build the ‘Digital Bangladesh’ declared by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Chaired by the Vice-Chancellor of KUET Professor Dr. Mohammed Alamgir, the programme was addressed, among others, by lawmaker S M Mostofa Rashidi Suza, Administrator of Khulna District Council Sheikh Harun-ur-Rashid, Project Director of LICT Md. Rezaul Karim and Director of ICT department of KUET Professor Dr. Basudev Chandra Ghosh.

Later, Palak gave impoverished talented students one hundred laptops getting from Exim Bank under ‘one student one laptop’ program of Information and Technology Department.

Earlier, a MoU was signed between KUET and LICT Project in order to provide the students of KUET with Top Up IT Training.
