PEC, JSC, JDC exam results will be published on Dec 31

As many as 5.6 million fifth and eighth graders took the exams this year.

The education ministry’s Joint Secretary AKM Zakir Hossain Bhuiyan and primary and mass education ministry’s Additional Secretary Md Abdul Jalil told that the results would be published on the same day as it was last year.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will publish the results on the day. According to custom, the ministers of education and primary education will hand the results over to the prime minister.

A media briefing by the minister later in the day will highlight key facts relating to the exams.

This year’s JSC and JDC exams were held between Nov 1 and 18 while the PEC exams were held between Nov 22 and 30.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid will brief the media on important aspects of the JSC and JDC exam results at the Secretariat at 1pm, said Deputy Secretary Subodh Chandra Dhali.

Primary and Mass Education Minister Mostafizur Rahman will present the details of the PEC test results at 2pm, ministry spokesperson Robindranath Roy said.

Textbook festival

The prime minister will inaugurate a textbook festival by distributing free textbooks among students after the announcement of the results.

The ministries concerned will arrange a large-scale distribution of books on Jan 2.

This year, the government is printing around 334 million books for over 44.4 million secondary students and over 108.7 million books for over 22.3 million primary students.

According to the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB), 270 million books had been dispatched to schools in a number of Upazilas until Dec 17.

Education ministry Deputy Secretary Dhali said Primary Education Minister Rahman would give away textbooks to the students of Mirpur National Bangla School on Jan 1.

Education Minister Nahid will hand the books over to students at a function at Government Laboratory School on Jan 2.
