The police arrested a schoolteacher on Friday night at Kanaikhali in Natore town on charge of making derogatory remarks against Shafiqul Islam Shimul, lawmaker from Natore-2 constituency, and his wife on social networking site Facebook.
Officer-in charge of Sadar police station Mizanur Rahman said Tasnuva Rahman Mitu, a teacher of Natore Government High School, downloaded a picture of Shafiqul Islam Shimul and his wife from Facebook.
Later, she uploaded the picture on Facebook after distorting it and placing a comment on it.
Sayem Hossain, a lawyer, filed a case against Mitu with the police station on Friday afternoon.
After the case was filed, the police arrested Mitu around 10:30pm.
