UGC to implement campus network at 19 public Universities

UGCNineteen public universities signed revised agreement with UGC to implement campus network at UGC auditorium today (28.07.2016). UGC Member Professor Dr. Mohammad Yousuf Ali Mollah was present on the occasion as the Chief Guest.

UGC Member Professor Dr. Md. Akhtar Hossain was present as the Special Guest on the occasion.  Dr.  Gauranga Chandra Mohanta, ndc, Project Director (Additional Secretary) of Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP), delivered the welcome address at the programme. UGC Secretary Dr Md Khaled and Vice-Chancellors of the universities signed the agreement on behalf of their respective institutions.

The Chief Guest urged the university authorities to properly maintain the equipment and ensure maximum utilization of the facilities provided by BdREN for campus network. He also said that if any complication or difficulties arise, the concerned universities can contact the BdREN authority.

It may be mentioned here that BdREN allocated Tk. 52 Crore to 19 public universities for establishing campus networks while Tk. 67 crore has been allocated in the revised contract for campus network for the universities.

The universities which signed agreements with UGC included Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, National University, Bangladesh Open University, Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University, Patuakhali Science and Technology University, Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology, Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology,  Khulna University of Engineering and Technology, Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology, Jagannath University, Comilla University, Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Jessore University of Science and Technology, Bangladesh University of Professionals, Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur, Pabna Science and Technology University, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University, Barisal University and Bangladesh Textile University.

Representatives from HEQEP, BdREN and high officials of UGC, among others, were also present in the occasion.
