Woman entrepreneur picked up for ‘spreading rumours’

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) members have picked up a woman entrepreneur from Dhaka’s Paschim (West) Dhanmondi area for allegedly trying to create unrest by spreading rumours on social media  during the recent student protests for safe roads.

A team of Rab-2 detained Faria Mahjabin, 28, wife of Md Riasat and owner of Nerdy Bean Coffee Haus in Dhanmondi, from her residence on Hazi Afsar Uddin road in the area around 10:45pm yesterday, senior ASP Mizanur Rahman, assistant director (media and legal wing) of Rab, told The Daily Star this morning.

Faria was kept in the Rab-2 office and legal action against her was underway, the Rab official said.
