85.48 percent students pass JSC exam, 12,268 get GPA-5 in Ctg Board

A total of 85.48 percent students in Junior School Certificate (JSC) examinations under Chittagong Education Board (CEB) passed this year and this is 1.19 percent more compared to last year’s result.

The board authority has published the results at a press conference at its conference hall here this noon with Board controller Dr Pijush Dutto in the chair.

The board saw 170,716 students appearing from 1186 institutions under 204 centres in the exam this year. A total of one lakh 43 thousand and 939 students passed from Chittagong Education Board this year.

The pass rate this year rose to 85.48 percent from last year’s 84.29 percent. Among the institutions, 158 achieved 100 percent pass rate while two witnessed a zero pass rate.

The number of GPA-5 achievers this year is 12,268 which are 1781 more than the previous year and 7.29 percent of the total result. Of those receiving GPA-5 the male are 5399 while female 6869.

The percentage of pass in male students is 86.58 percent while female students are 84.58 percent.

The percentage of pass in the schools of city area is 91.64 % while 82.35% students from the schools out of the city area came out successful except hill districts.

Among the districts, the pass rate was 90.02 percent for Cox’s Bazar, 81, for Rangamati, 85.37, for Khagrachari and 77.98, for the Bandarban.

Dr Pijush Kanti Dutto, Secretary of Chittagong Education Board expressed his satisfaction over the result.
