Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University on Saturday announced Tk 528.4 crore budget for fiscal year 2019-20, which is up by 24.34 per cent from last year’s budget of Tk 424.95 crore.
The university treasurer Atiqur Rahman announced the budget at its Milan Hall, where the vice-chancellor Kanak Kanti Barua, syndicate members and other officials were present.
Atiqur Rahman said the syndicate of the university approved the budget earlier on the day in its 74th meeting.
According to the budget document, the health ministry allocated Tk 345.69 crore while the University Grants Commission allocated Tk 173.71 crore for BSMMU.
The university would spend Tk 40.15 crore from its own fund and Tk 155.02 crore remains deficit.
The university allocated Tk 289.32 crore or 54.76 per cent of the total outlay on salary, benefits and pension of teachers and employees for FY 2019-20.
It also allocated Tk 55.95 or 10.59 per cent for residence doctors and contractual employees.
The university allocated Tk 10.5 crore or 1.99 per cent for research and Tk 1.3 crore or 0.24 per cent for training.
