Govt to fill teacher vacancy at secondary schools : Minister

A process is underway for recruiting teachers for the vacant posts with the secondary schools all across Bangladesh

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid told the parliament that some 2,000 posts for teachers with the secondary schools are vacant across Bangladesh.
He made the announcement while replying to a question posed by Treasury bench member M Abdul Latif from Chittagong-11 during the Q&A session in the House on Thursday.
The education minister said: “A process is underway for recruiting teachers for the vacant posts with the secondary schools.”
“The government would appoint teachers for the vacant spots in Bangla, English, Mathematics, Social Science, religion of Islam, Geography, Physical Science, Zoology, Commerce, Physical Education, Fine Arts and Agriculture Education,” Nahid said.
Replying to another question from Treasury bench member Begum Pinu Khan, the minister said: “The government has a plan to establish general and specialised universities in every district through public-private initiatives with a view to providing higher education to students.”
He said the cabinet has approved a draft law for setting up two public universities in the country.
The universities are Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Science and Technology University and Sheikh Hasina University.
Nahid also informed the parliament that the country has as many as 39 public and 95 private universities.
