HC rule on ‘indecent words’ in Coca-Cola ads

Desk Report |

The High Court (HC) today issued a rule asking why action should not be taken against Coca-Cola for using “indecent and distorted words” in their advertisements.

The bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and KM Kamrul Kader came up with the rule in response to a writ petition filed by Supreme Court lawyer Md Moniruzzaman Rana.

In the petition filed on February 27, Moniruzzaman challenged the legality of using “disputed” words like “Fafor”, “Para”, “MathaNasto”, “Ghutibaj”, “Jinish” and “Asthir” in the advertisements of Coca-Cola in Bangladesh.

The advertisements of Coca Cola were published and broadcast on both the print and electronic media, the lawyer said in the petition.
