The authorities of Islamic University in Kushtia celebrated the 41st founding anniversary on the campus on Friday amid festive mood and enthusiasm.
The daylong celebration included hoisting of the national and university flags, a colourful procession, a discussion programme and cultural event.
Marking the day, the university vice chancellor professor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari hoisted the national flag while pro vice-chancellor M Shahinoor Rahman hoisted the university flag in front of the university’s administration building around 9:00am.
The vice-chancellor inaugurated the programmes releasing pigeon around 10:00am.
Later, the teachers, officials, students and staff brought out a colourful procession led by the VC on the campus.
The procession ended at the same place after parading main streets of the campus. A discussion programme was held there.
Among others, IU pro VC M Shahinoor Rahman, treasurer M Selim Toha, acting registrar SM Abdul Latif, syndicate member M Mahbubar Rahman, English department chair Salma Sultana, IIER director M Maher Ali, international foreign affairs cell director Shahadat Hossain Azad and deans and chairmen of different faculties were present on the occasion.
After that, a cultural event participated by the teachers and students of various departments was also held on the Bangla Mancha adjacent to the university’s arts’ faculty building.
