English classes to be conducted in English

Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education has asked the authorities of school and college to ensure that the English classes were conducted in English.

In the wake of reported allegations of conducting English classes in Bangla at most of the colleges in the country, DSHE director general SM Wahiduzzaman issued the order on Tuesday.

The order also carried instructions to educate students with ethics, and norms-and-values so that they could build themselves as good citizens.

The teachers were also asked to highlight the history of the country’s great war of independence while conducting classes. Every college will develop facilities for the students to have open access to a section of its library having Bangladesh Er Shadhinota Juddher Dolil Potro (15 Episodes), according to the DSHE order.

The teachers were asked to spell out at least to statements with moral contents in every class and daily assembly, the order says, adding that there will have to wall writing with moral contents.
