No students passed from 134 educational institutions, mostly madrassahs, in the Secondary School Certificate and its equivalent examinations this year across Bangladesh.
The number sharply increased this year as in 2024 the number of institutions with zero pass rate was 51.
Meanwhile, the number of the institutions with a 100-per cent pass rate has declined in this year’s results compared with that in the past year.
Past year, the number was 2,968 and the number came down to 984 this year.
The results published on Thursday showed that the combined pass rate this year stood at 68.45 per cent, while it was 83.04 per cent in 2024.
As per the results, among the educational institutions with no pass, the highest, 86, are under the Bangladesh Madrassah Education Board, followed by 16 in Barishal, 13 in Dinajpur, 11 in Mymensingh, four in Dhaka, two in Jashore and one each in Cumilla and Chattogram education boards.In 2023, the number of educational institutions with zero pass rate was 48, in 2022, the number was 50, in 2021, the number was 18, in 2020, the number was 104, in 2019, the number was 107 and in 2018, it was 109.
This year in 286 educational institutions up to 10 per cent candidates passed, in 637 institutions 10–20 per cent passed, in 6,684 institutions 20–50 per cent passed, and in 21,363 institutions from 50 per cent to below 100 per cent passed.
In 2024, however, in 105 educational institutions up to 10 per cent candidates passed, in 143 institutions 10–20 per cent passed, in 1,795 institutions 20–50 per cent passed, and in 24,804 institutions from 50 per cent to below 100 per cent passed.
As per the results of 2025, among the educational institutions with a 100-per cent pass rate, the highest, 393 are under the Bangladesh Madrassah Education Board, followed by 228 under Bangladesh Technical Education Board, 99 under Rajshahi, 74 under Jashore, 52 under Dhaka, 48 under Dinajpur, 33 under Chattogram, 22 under Cumilla, 17 under Barishal, 11 under Mymensingh and seven under Sylhet education boards.
The number of the institutions with a 100-per cent pass rate was 2,354 in 2023, 2,975 in 2022, 5,494 in 2021, 3,023 in 2020, 2,583 in 2019, and 1,574 in 2018.
