Teachers and officers of the public universities would be given subsidised home loan facility, introduced by the government since the August last, finance division officials said on Tuesday.
The decision was made at a finance division meeting, presided over by additional secretary Habibur Rahman.
Officials said that the meeting also decided to make a separate guideline for the teachers since their retirement age is 65 years.
In the last week, the finance division also decided to provide home loan to the judges.
A government official is entitled to enjoy maximum Tk 75 lakh with five per cent subsidised interest rate and the lowest ceiling of Tk 35 lakh with the facility.
State-owned commercial banks and the Bangladesh House Building Finance Corporation provide the loan facility.
Earlier, it was stated that a permanent government employee, serving for five years and not crossing age limit of 56 years, would qualify for the home loan facility following scrutiny by the loan providers. The grace period of the loan is six months and the repayment period is 20 years.
