Conference on Language Teaching and Learning begins at DU

A two-day long International Conference on “Language Teaching and Learning” began on 24th November at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban Auditorium of Dhaka University (DU).

DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Md Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the conference as the chief guest.

Director of the Institute of Modern Languages Professor Iffat Ara Nasreen Majid presided over the inaugural function while Russian MGIMO University Professor Irina Prokofyeva and USA Professor B Kumaravadivelu attended as the special guests.

VC Akhtaruzzaman thanked the authorities of DU IML for organizing such an excellent initiative to bring scholars together from home and abroad.

He said in this era of globalization language has become an essential tool for development.

Akhtaruzzaman stressed the need for learning different languages to equip oneself with various cultures.

‘Inter-disciplinary research is a must for development’, he added.

VC hoped that participants especially DU teachers and students would be highly benefitted by exchanging and sharing ideas and thoughts about language teaching in this conference.
