The authorities of Islamic University in Kushtia on Sunday (23 september) night suspended one of its students for allegedly slapping a female student of his own department.
The decision was made at an emergency meeting held at IU administration building with IU vice-chancellor Professor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari in the chair, IU registrar office officials said on Monday morning.
IU acting registrar SM Abul Latif told New Age that the university authorities suspended Mahmudullah, a master’s student of Arabic Language and Culture department, over violating the university rules and regulations.
On September 19 last, Mahmudullah slapped the female student on the ground floor of IU Art’s Faculty building as she refused to accept his love proposal.
Later, the female student submitted a written complaint to the university authorities seeking proper punishment of the student.
