A medical assistance fund was formed at Jahangirnagar University on Tuesday, said a university press release issued on Tuesday.
The fund titled ‘Vice-chancellor Emergency Medical Assistance Fund’ is aimed at providing financial assistance to the university’s former and current students, teachers, officials and employees for treatment of their incurable diseases, the release said.
Those who are suffering from incurable diseases and financially insolvent would be considered for assistance from this fund, it added.
Meanwhile, JU vice-chancellor Professor Farzana Islam on Monday handed over a cheque of Tk 75000 to university’s two former students from this fund.
An account (AC No 0200008947626) has already been opened with JU branch of Agrani Bank in this regard, the news release said.
Public and private institutions and individuals can donate in this fund, the release said.
