Police in Kushtia arrested Islamic University unit Bangladesh Chhatra League incumbent general secretary in a case filed under Digital Security Act on Friday night. The arrested was Rakibul Islam Rakib, 25, of Kushtia sadar.
Rakib’s family members, however, claimed that he went to Kushtia sadar police station to file a case against an unknown person who threatened him to death over mobile phone. Later, he arrested there.
The BCL activist was arrested in a case filed by IU BCL unit former general secretary Jewel Rana Halim with IU police station, Kushtia sadar police station officer-in-charge Nasir Uddin said.
They would produce him before the court on Saturday, the OC added.
On November 2, Jewel Rana Halim filed the case with IU police station as an audio clip of conversation between Rakib and IU BCL unit former forest and environmental affairs deputy secretary Jubayer went viral on social media.
In the audio clip, Jubayer made several allegations against the plaintiff and Kushtia constituency 3 MP Mahbubul Alam Hanif’s personal secretary Raju.
