Some 75 new books hit the Amar Ekhusey Book Fair on the 8th day of the show on Monday.
The new books include 19 novels, two on story, five on article, five on poetry, two on research, seven children literature, three autobiographies, one on liberation war, two sciences, three on history and two on riddle and puzzle.
Meanwhile, book sellers were not satisfied with the sales of the book as the book selling is yet to gain momentum.
Gashphoring Publisher Shaymol Kumar Das said they cannot achieve the target of book sale.
A salesman of the Projjolon Publication Apu Mahmud alleged that Bangla Academy allocated some stalls to some organizations on its premises although they are not government organizations. ‘So they are selling books more than us.’
However, Bangla Academy Director General Shamsuzzaman Khan denied the allegation, saying, ‘I’ve visited the fair but heard no complaint. Books are being sold well. Some prominent organizations such as Asiatic Society and Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) were given some stalls at the academy ground.’
