Milon Mandal, a key accused in schoolgirl Nitu murder case, has confessed to killing the Madaripur girl, according to the police.
Milon reportedly made a confessional state in front of senior judge Fowzia Hafsa of Madaripur chief judicial magistrate court on Monday.
Sub-inspector of Dasar police station Mohammad Bayozid Mridha, who is also the investigative officer in the case, confirmed that Milon gave the confessional statement.
The court ordered that he be sent to the district jail.
Nitu’s father Nirmal Mandal on Sunday filed a murder case with Dasar police station, accusing Milon.
Nitu Mandal,14, student of Nobogram High School was hacked to death on her way to school in Madaripur on Sunday morning.
Milon Mandal was detained in connection with the killing that occurred in Thakurbari area of Nabagram village under Kalkini upazila in the district.
Nitu murder sparked outrage in the area.
Students and teachers of Nobogram High School formed a human chain on Monday, demanding punishment of Nitu’s killer.
