National Textbook Festival celebrated in Rangpur

The National Textbook Festival- 2016 was celebrated here through distribution of new books among students of primary and secondary level educational institutions on the New Year’s Day today.

The government officials, public representatives, educationists, socio-cultural activists and elites formally launched distribution of free new textbooks among the students everywhere in the district amid huge festivity.

Divisional Commissioner (Additional Secretary) Muhammad Dilwar Bakht formally launched the festival through distributing new textbooks in a ceremony at Jummapara Government Primary School in the city as chief guest.

Divisional Deputy Director for Primary Education Mohiuddin Ahmed Talukder attended it as special guest.

In another ceremony, Deputy Commissioner Rahat Anwar distributed textbooks among the students in a ceremony on Rangpur Collectorate School and College premises in the city.

Principal of the institution Professor Manjuara Parveen presided over the function participated by students, guardians, teachers, civil society members and elites.

The government has allocated about 69 lakh pieces of new textbooks for distribution among the students of all primary and Ebtedayee level institutions, secondary level schools, Dakhil madrasas and vocational institutions in the district.

Divisional Deputy Director for Primary Education Mohiuddin Ahmed Talukder told BSS that there will be no shortage of books as the government has allocated the new textbooks for the students at different levels as per demand.

Dipti and Shimul, students of class one, Msuhma and Sohel of class two, Aklima and Jashim of class three, Akhil and Nayan of class four and Moni and Soheli of class five of different schools expressed happiness after getting new textbooks.

Similarly, class six students Mozammel and Rumi, class seven students Arman and Sonia and class eight students Rafiul and Rubi of different schools in the divisional city also expressed their happiness and pleasure.

Guardians Abdul Baki, Pritam Kumar and Momena Begum said they were very happy as their children got new textbooks on the very first day of New Year-2016 and expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for the epoch-making initiative.
