Two remanded over killing of 4 schoolboys

Schoolboy MurderA Habiganj court on Thursday granted 10-day remands for each of the accused who were arrested in connection with the killing of four schoolboys at Sundrateki in Bahubal.

Senior Judicial Magistrate M Kawser Alam passed the order after officer-in-charge of Detective Branch Abdul Muktadir, also investigation officer of the case, produced Abdul Ali, 50, and his son Jewel Miah, 22, of Sundrateki village, before the court seeking a 10-day remand for each.

Police on Wednesday arrested Abdul Ali and Jewel Miah for their suspected link to the murders, reports United News of Bangladesh. A total of four people have so far been arrested in connection with the gruesome murder of the four schoolboys.

Meanwhile, members of Rapid Action Battalion arrested Rubel Miah, another son of Abdul Ali, from the same village early in the morning. Besides, police arrested another person, Arju Miah, from the same village early Thursday. The bodies of four schoolboys who had gone missing from Sundrateki village in Bahubal upazila on Friday morning were recovered from a ditch at the village on Wednesday morning.

Informed by locals, police recovered the bodies of Zakaria Ahmed Shuvo, 8, son of Wahid Miah, his two cousins –Tajel Miah, 10, son of Abdul Aziz, Monir Miah, 7, son of Abdal Miah — and Ismail Hossain, 10, son of Abdul Quadir.
