BCL suspended the SUST unit committee

SUST Correspondent |

Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) has suspended all activities of its Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (Sust) unit committee for an indefinite period.

The suspension order came yesterday (12th April), four days after some BCL men reportedly assaulted four journalists as they protested the harassment of a schoolgirl, who went to the campus to visit her cousin.

The BCL central committee, however, did not specify the reason behind the decision.

A group of BCL activists allegedly stalked an SSC examinee when she went to the university campus on Saturday (8th April).

Later, the BCL men reportedly beat up Vice President of Sust Press Club Syed Nabiul Alam Dipu, the university correspondent of Daily Shokaler Khobor and Sardar Abbas, district correspondent of The Daily Observer, as they protested the assault.

Meanwhile, the schoolgirl filed a case with the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal of Sylhet accusing Sanjibon Chakrabharty Partho, president of Sust unit BCL, BCL activists Mahmudul Haque Rudra, Sazzad Reaz and five other unnamed in connection with the Saturday’s incident, said Abdul Malek, public prosecutor of the tribunal.
