DU, DUJA to observe national mourning day

The Dhaka University (DU) authorities will observe the National Mourning Day and 43rd martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman tomorrow in a befitting manner. 

 

 
 
As part of the programmes, pro-vice chancellors, treasurer, senate and syndicate members, deans, provosts, proctors, chairpersons of departments, directors of institutes and office heads led by DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman will place wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu at Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi in the morning.
 
The national flag, university and hall flags will be hoisted at half-mast atop all main buildings including halls of the university.
 
A discussion will be held on the life and works of the Architect of Independence Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) auditorium at 10 am with DU VC in the chair.
 
Besides, Dhaka University Journalists’ Association (DUJA) has also chalked out elaborate programmes to observe the day with due solemnity.
 
As per the programme, DUJA will organise a photo exhibition titled “Bangaleer Bangabandhu” at TSC at 10 am.
 
Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman will inaugurate the exhibition while DUJA President Asifur Rahman and General Secretary Mahmudul Hasan Nayon and other members of DUJA will present.
 
Special prayers will be held at all mosques after Zohr prayers and ‘Upasanalaya’ on the campus.
 
The Faculty of Fine Arts will arrange an art competition at 10 am at TSC cafeteria on the day.
