Desk Report |

Discussants at a function have laid emphasis on enhancing extracurricular activities to flourish multi-dimensional latent talents of the school children and save them from social menaces.

They viewed this in the function arranged at the ‘Seasonal Competitions for the Children-2018’ on extracurricular activities held at Bangabandhu Auditorium in Hakimpur municipal town of Dinajpur district yesterday.

Hakimpur Upazila Education Office organised the competitions on debate, patriotic songs, ‘Jarigan’, regional folk dance and preparing wall magazines for the primary and secondary level educational institutions of the upazila.

Hakimpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shukria Pervin attended the function and distributed crests and prizes among the winners of the competitions as the chief guest with Upazila Education Officer Masudul Hasan in the chair.

The upazila level government officials, headmasters, taxpayers, students and their guardians, local public representatives, civil society members and elite attended the function.

The UNO appreciated the Upazila Education Office for organising the competitions and called upon authorities of all educational institutions in the upazila for arranging similar programmes to enhance extracurricular activities for school level students.

“It has become crucial to nurture and popularise debate, cultural, literary, sports and other innovative extracurricular activities among the school level students to build an enlightened, knowledge-based and modern society,” the UNO said.
