Enamul Hasan, elder brother of Fayzul Hasan alias Shafiqur, who attacked author and professor Muhammed Zafar Iqbal, was handed over to the Sylhet Metropolitan Police after he was picked up from Gazipur on Thursday night by the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

CTTC deputy commissioner Mohibul Islam Khan said they handed Enamul over to SMP on Friday.

SMP additional deputy commissioner Abdul Wahab said that a joint-team of law-enforcers, including CTTC and Rapid Action Battalion, had been interrogation into the incident of attack on professor Zafar Iqbal to find out the people involved in the crime.

‘So, everything in this regard would not be possible to disclose for the interest of proper investigation,’ he said, adding that the matter was being handled by the investigation team.

On Thursday, Sylhet metropolitan magistrate court granted 10 days to question Fayzul to interrogate him in police custody.

Shahjalal University of Science and Technology computer science and engineering professor Zafar was stabbed on his back at about 5:00pm on March 3 when he was inspecting the projects displayed in a robotic competition on the SUST campus.
