Indian high commissioner to Bangladesh Riva Ganguly Das called on Dhaka University vice-chancellor Professor Akhtaruzzaman on Saturday at his office on the university campus.

DU Jagannath Hall provost Professor Mihir Lal Saha and high officials of Indian High Commission were present on the occasion, said a press release.

During the meeting they discussed matters of mutual interest. They exchanged views regarding the programmes chalked out by Dhaka University to observe the birth centenary of the country’s founding president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

As a part of the celebrations Bangabandhu Lecture Series will be held at Dhaka University, in which some renowned Indian academics will be invited to deliver lectures.

In this regard, DU VC sought cooperation from Indian high commissioner and Indian high commissioner Riva Ganguly Das assured the DU VC of providing all sorts of help and cooperation regarding this.

Meanwhile, Dhaka University and Indian High Commission jointly organised a cycle rally on the university campus on Saturday to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

DU VC and Indian high commissioner inaugurated the rally at Aparajeyo Bangla of the university.

DU Arts Faculty dean Professor Abu Mohammad Delwar Hossain and proctor Professor Golam Rabbani were, among others, present there.

Members of DU Cycling Club took part in the rally.
