No quota in RU admission test: VC

Vice-Chancellor of Rajshahi University (RU) Prof Abdus Sobhan said there will no quota in RU’s admission test from next session. He said the government has issued circular repealing the quota system in public jobs taking all aspects into consideration.

“If the decision exists there will be no quota in RU admission test,” he clarified.

Prof Sobhan, however, said the issue of keeping quota for the wards, challenged students and players will be considered. He also talked about some other decisions relating to the next year’s admission test.

The VC revealed this while talking to journalists after visiting some examination halls of admission test that began today. Meanwhile, a two-day admission test for the first year honours courses in 2018-19 academic sessions began today.

A total of 88,543 students are appearing in the entry test under five units, which are – A unit (Arts and Fine arts faculty), B unit (Business Studies and Business Administration Institute), C unit (comprises of Science and Engineering Faculties), D unit (Life and Earth Science Faculties) and E unit (Law and Social Science Faculties and Education and Research Institute).

Detailing the preparation of the entry test, he said there is no scope of question leakage. “All we university teachers irrespective of party and opinion affiliation are working together relentlessly to make the test a total success,” the VC added.

Application process has been completed through checking and crosschecking. So, there is no chance of any forgery through proxy. Modern technology is being used for preventing forgery. Above all, stern actions will be taken against those found to be guilty in any stage of the process.

He also said the law enforcing agencies are extending their cooperation to complete the test peacefully and successfully.
